Tom, Ed and Elliott paid a visit to Obrenovac transit camp in Serbia yesterday as part of Refugee Week. The camp hosts around 700 male refugees and migrants, many of whom hope to reach other European countries but have been trapped in Serbia for months or years on end. They met some aspiring musicians living in the camp and saw @oxfamgb vital work supporting refugees.
Thousands of refugees from Syria and other countries passed through Serbia in 2015 and 2016 before countries in eastern Europe started closing their borders. Today around 4,000 refugees and migrants live in 18 camps across Serbia or sleep rough. Oxfam and its partners have documented extreme abuse of refugees at the hands of border guards in Hungary, Croatia, Macedonia and Bulgaria. #standasone
